Here at Top Leaf Cigar Lounge, we want to encourage more people to come experience what our cigar lounge has to offer. However, we also want to make sure everyone has a good time, and that means everyone should conduct themselves according to agreed-upon cigar lounge etiquette. If this is your first time at a cigar lounge, here are three key etiquette rules that you should know:

  • Buy from the lounge. First, you should buy your cigar from the lounge, rather than bringing your own. Many cigar lounges actually prohibit their guests from bringing cigars from home, but even if your lounge does allow it, you should buy a few of their cigars first and get to know the staff and its policies before you take that step. On top of that, buying from the lounge is a great way to support their business, and you will be able to enjoy a much wider selection than your private stash can provide.

3 Key Rules of Cigar Lounge Etiquette that You Should Know

  • Cut before you taste. Many smokers like to taste the cigar before they light it, either by rolling the cigar between their lips or drawing their tongues down its length. Either way, tasting the cigar offers a preview of all the notes that you will soon be experiencing. In a cigar lounge, however, you should always cut the cigar before you taste it in this way, as no one wants to use a cutter that has traces of someone else’s saliva on it.
  • Watch your ash. As you smoke, make sure to use the provided trays to collect your ash and keep it to a manageable level. It’s rude to sprinkle your ash on the floor, and it’s ruder still to get ash in someone else’s drink because you weren’t paying attention. Keep an eye on your cigar and make sure that the ash goes where it’s supposed to go.
